We were proud to represent the DE-RISK project at this year’s European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) — the European Union’s key platform for dialogue on renewables and energy efficiency.
Our partners SEA SOFENA and R2M Spain joined the event on-site to share insights from DE-RISK, particularly our work on Local Flexibility Markets (LFMs) and the role of community-based energy solutions in accelerating the green transition.
A key highlight was the policy session titled:
“Energy communities’ potential for the future of electricity markets: robust and green energy for all.”
During the session, NADYA NIKOLOVA DEME (SEA SOFENA) presented the DE-RISK policy roadmap, offering strategic recommendations to scale up LFMs and remove regulatory barriers that still challenge the growth of energy communities in Europe.
The session also featured a distinguished panel, including: Johannes Vollmer from European Renewable Energies Federation (EREF), representing the Reschool Project, Vera Kissler at the European Commission, Jonas Tannerstad from ÖrebroBostäder AB – ÖBO, Henrik Adamsson from Lunds Kommuns Fastighets AB, and Jonas Birgersson from ViaEuropa. The session was moderated by Sorcha Edwards at Housing Europe.
The panel discussion explored key challenges and opportunities in shaping the future sustainable energy systems — from making energy bills more affordable and modernizing grids, to removing regulatory barriers and accelerating the implementation of EU legislation to support energy communities and local flexibility. It’s clear: empowering citizens and communities is critical to a greener, more resilient Europe
We thank our partners, speakers, and organisers for a productive exchange — and remain committed to contributing to EU goals through innovation, collaboration, and policy engagement.
